Indonesia, Vietnam Keen To Boost Cooperation HANOI, March 4 (Bernama) -- Vietnam and Indonesia are keen to develop comprehensive cooperation in economy, culture, education and peace in the East Sea, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
An agreement in this regard was reached during talks held between National Assembly chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Speaker of Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Sidarto Danusubroto in Vietnam's capital on Monday.
Hung hoped that the legislative bodies of both countries would help facilitate the Vietnam-Indonesia cooperation for peace and development in the region, in bringing the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) bloc closer towards the formation of a common community by 2015.
He hailed Indonesia's Initiative on Six-Point Principle in the East Sea, and desired to see agreements signed soon to ensure peace and security in the region.
On his part, Sidarto expressed his wish to enhance relationship with Vietnam's National Assembly, ratify joint cooperation agreements and monitor their implementation.
The East Sea issue should be solved by peaceful means and dialogue, he added.
Sidarto is expected to attend the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Hanoi in March 2015.
